We're Eye of the Tigran.
A team devoted to play chess within Free Internet Chess Server teamleague. Outside of teamleague we keep open and closed team tournaments from time to time.
We were formed out of discussions between hathkhola and herrahuu around december 2013. The name came quickly as reference for famous 80s song Eye of the Tiger as well as homage to Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian, herrahuus favourite chess player of all times. First entries on teamleague we were playing with one lineup, but once our teamleague ratings got further apart between best rated and lowest rated players there have been multiple teams to give as enjoyable as possible chess experiences for anyone involved.
Our policy as team might be stricter than other teams in some aspects. We expect our members to play only for one team, to not blitz regularly, to follow good chess etiquette and to negotiate game times in prompt and friendly fashion.
Team philosophy regarding failures and competitiviness
We certainly want to win every game and competition as a team and as players. But prior to this is growth. I hope it will produce highly competitive teams and good results as fruits to be celebrated but only as secondary goal. The span of time I am looking for results is not two games, but maybe four to five seasons.
We are social gathering where we hope you can become more comfortable with 45 45 chess, the time control and social environment of our team and FICS teamleague organisation. We will take firm control over the game negotiations and games overall so you feel you and your rights as a player are respected.
We want you to be able to grow as a chess player. Making mistakes is hard to face. The energy - the anger, the shame, the anxiety should be pointed at right direction. It is ok to try to find blame from opponent and sometimes this is even correct. But trying to surpass or forget your mistakes will not make you better player. Most of the times in my experience you need to look at yourself and see what you can do to improve - to grow.
